A single note opens Empty Wishes Well: a rusty coin being thrown, metallic and cool. Petrichor, myrrh, dry leaves, dusty marble and sage follow, like old stone after rain. The base goes into the ground with soil, patchouli, Java and Haitian vetiver, amyris, galbanum and carrot seeds. Earthy, mineral and green-dry, it stays close to the image of a dried-up well, still waiting for rain and for something to grow again.

It comes in 2 ml and 5 ml samples, hand-decanted from the original bottle, and in a 60 ml bottle. For a wider look at Toskovat, there is the Toskovat Discovery Set.

If you like the petrichor, dry leaves and galbanum, Caeleste Principalities uses all three along with mineral notes. For the earth itself, Zoologist King Cobra shares soil, patchouli and vetiver, with black tea and leather.

The Story Behind The Scent

Today I remembered making wishes and having hope.

I found this rusty old coin in my pocket, from somebody I can’t recall, from a place I don’t know, with a purpose it hasn’t served. When I was a child and I would find them, I’d keep them until I saw the first well and I would make a wish.  

But now money doesn’t make wishes come true, and there is no well. They dried up. Father told me the holy water font became mouldy. Marble cracked and prayers turned to dust on walls.  

But I still have my hope. I know rain will come and I will melt in the soil I walked on and nature will bring nurture. And more shall live again.
