Cave's take
Spice hits first in Moth: black pepper, cinnamon, clove, cumin, nutmeg and saffron, with a touch of lemon. The heart turns powdery and floral, with heliotrope, iris, jasmine, mimosa, muguet and rose. Below that is a dark base of resins, guaiac wood, nagarmotha, oud, patchouli, vetiver and smoke, softened by honey, ambergris and musk, all three synthetic. Spicy, powdery and smoky, it is a dark floral built around a moth drawn to the flame.
Try it as a 2 ml sample, hand-decanted from the original bottle, before committing to the 60 ml bottle. The Zoologist Discovery Set is another route into the house.
If you like the saffron, cumin and nagarmotha, Adi ale Van Behind Her Eyes shares them, along with jasmine, rose and patchouli. Bee has the heliotrope and mimosa with orange, tonka and vanilla.
